Barbara J. Lee (Hunkeler) - Class Of 1965 VIEW PROFILE

Barbara J. Lee (Hunkeler)

Barb died, rather unexpectedly, on March 21, 2017.   She had lost her husband about a year earlier and was just getting settled into her new life in Virginia. Barb is sorely missed by her sisters, Nan and Mary, and her children.

So very saddened to hear of Barb's passing, I'll never forget her, she was my first kiss back in grade school, John Moore Elementary.

My story is very brief, like the happening.  It is about Barbara Lee ( so sad to hear of her passing).  May she rest in peace with the Lord.

It took place during our grade school days at John Moore Elementary on Court Street.

Barb and I were friends and we were at her parents home in the backyard, my memory fails me as to what we were doing there.  One part of that day is indelibly written in my memory, one of the few memories I have left.  Like most of us, so many memories have faded into the sunset of our youth, but some remain like they happened yesterday ( maybe they DID happen yesterday, I forget ...LOL ).

Anyway, like I said, we were in Barb's parent's backyard and she said she wanted to show me something inside the yard shed, so we went inside.  The shed had a small window and it let in a little light but someone outside couldn't see in, so it was quite secluded.  That's when it happened, I was looking out the window when Barb suddenly kissed me on the cheek !  That was my first kiss, haven't washed that cheek since !  LOL

Sorry to hear this.  When one of our own passes away it really brings home how fragile life is.  My thoughts too are with her children who it seems have lost both of their parents within a year.
