Gregory Mearl Hibbard, 75, of Saginaw, passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2023, at St. Francis Home of Saginaw.
Greg was born in Saginaw on October 30, 1947, the son of the late Basil and Vivian (DuBois) Hibbard. Greg graduated from Arthur Hill High School and attended Delta College. He worked at Manistee Forge Corp. as a draftsman and engineer. Later, he earned his master's electrician license, commercial driver’s license, and a merchant seaman’s card.
He was a devoted countryman and proudly served in the United States National Guard. Greg was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant of the HQ 1st Battalion/246 Armor, Michigan Army National Guard in Dowagiac, Michigan. Later he was promoted to Captain in the Army Reserve and was honorably discharged as a Captain in July 1991. Over the years, Greg worked for Honeywell and Dow Chemical. After many years of dedicated service, he retired from Dow Chemical. Always one to put the needs of others above himself and give to others, he was a profligate donor to Red Cross blood drives. Greg enjoyed the outdoors and was a good hunter, fisherman, and trapper.
Greg was welcomed home by his sister, Joanne Hibbard, along with his parents.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot. Friends are invited to attend a graveside ceremony on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
