Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather Theodore “Ted” William Martin passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Covenant Hospital, at the age of 74 years. Ted was born on November 6, 1947, in Saginaw, MI to the late Adolph and Viola (Wegener) Martin. He married Cynthia Richard, his loving wife of 54 years, on July 29, 1967. She survives him as well as sons -Troy (Marnie) Martin, Howell, Michigan, and Ty (Nichole Marchand) Martin, Grand Rapids, Grandchildren - Cade, Remi, Saylor, Gage and Emery Martin, his brother Dale Martin, brothers-in-law - Clarence Tod Richard (Mary), Daniel Richard, Mark Richard, Tim Richard, Wayne Matherne, sister-in-laws – Dixie (Bernard) Callahan, Diane (Ken) Blake, Rhonda (Tom) Pepera, Tammy (Steve) Evans, Kim (Greg) Leuenberger, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters Jenny Martin, Shirley (George) Mikusko, brother Ron (Fran) Martin, and his sister Diann (Frank) Batkoski as well as his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rhea and Clarence Richard, sister-in-laws Rhea Ann Matherne, Sarah Richard, and Linda Martin. Ted worked for General Motors for 30 years, and was heavily involved in the local 467 union, acting for a time as Charmain of the Shop Committee. He enjoyed reading, bible study, watching soaps, rooting for the University of Michigan and spending time at the cottage at Houghton Lake with his wife, kids, and grandchildren. In accordance with Ted’s wishes, cremation will follow and there will be no funeral services held. Sad to hear of Ted's passing. I had not seen him since 1965 when we graduated. But I remember being friends with him back then and that he had a fiery personality. He also was an athlete and was an offensive lineman on Arthur Hill's excellent football team that was ranked #1 or #2 in the state in our senior year. I offer his family sincere condolences .
