Although we went our own separate ways following the summer that Rich and I  received our driver's license I do have one outstanding memory of him.  Rich's parents owned a red Plymouth station wagon that had a rear facing back seat and electric window.  Occasionally he would pick up two or three of us in the evening and head for a dirt road that ran behind the Germania Club.  At that point one of us would take the rear seat with the window rolled down as Rich would drive by a farm house that had as I recall two large  aggressive dogs.  Driving very slowly, Rich would allow the dogs to jump up against the tailgate and nearly into the car and then he would speed away.  After all of these years it remains  a great memory and a story that I have told a number of times when having beers with some of my old buddies.
